Investigations
On reading this page, the chances are that your child may already have undergone a number of investigations. These tests enable a detailed diagnosis to be made and to assess your child’s cancer in detail.
This enables doctors to identify the best possible treatment regime for your child and to provide baselines before commencing treatment.
Investigations your child may need
- Ultrasound scans
- CT (computed tomography) and /or MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) scan or both
- Bone marrow biopsy and /or a biopsy of the tumor and / or tumour removal
- Bone scan in some cases
- Blood tests
- ECG (electrocardiogram)
- Cardiac echo - an ultrasound of the heart looking at how it looks and functions
- Chest x-ray and other x-rays
- Urinalysis
- Hearing test
