Grace Kelly Childhood Cancer Trust research grant funding round

A project grant of up to £100,000 and up to three years is available for a clearly defined research project addressing a key question in rare, non-CNS (but including AT/RT) solid tumours of childhood, in particular rhabdoid tumours (all types), non-Wilms renal tumours and rare soft tissue sarcomas.
The funded project will specifically be working towards helping improve the outlook for children diagnosed by having the potential to improve survival rates.
The funding for this project has been provided by the Trust and its named funds.
Our project grants may support stand-alone projects, research that is part of a wider project or trial, or research that is likely to lead to a further, larger grant application to a major funder of research.
All areas of research related to rare solid tumours of childhood will be considered, but we are particularly interested in studies that will lead to improvements in diagnosis, treatment and/or outcomes of children with cancer.
We have a particular interest in
- Research that could impact on earlier diagnosis of children with solid tumours (non-CNS except AT/RT).
- Non-invasive diagnostic/monitoring techniques, i.e. “liquid biopsies.”
- Research with clear translatable outcomes that are likely to lead to an improvement in treatment in children with solid tumours.
The deadline for applications is Friday 6th January 2022 at 9:30am.
Applications submitted after the deadline will not be accepted. Funding is available to UK and Ireland based research organisations, i.e. universities and hospitals.

- A decision is expected in June, so proposed start dates should reflect this in the application.
As an AMRC registered charity, applications will be judged by external reviewers and then our Research Advisory Panel (in accordance with AMRC guidance) on:
- Scientific quality and impact
- Relevance
- Scientific Leadership
- Justification of resources
Our Research Advisory Panel will then rank the applications and make a recommendation to the Trustees of the Trust.
