When looking for safe, reliable information and support, it can be difficult to know where to look. Firstly, take a look at how we can help support you through our information resources and local family support service.

Below are also some other suggestions of providers of useful information and support services that may be able to help.

They provide financial, emotional and practical support. Speak to the staff on your child’s ward and they will refer you to your local Young Lives Vs cancer team.

For teenagers and their families, providing emotional and practical support.

This supports life limited or life threatened children and their families to include children undergoing treatment for cancer.

The CCLG offers a range of information resources and leaflets that provide information for parents and General Practitioners on the diagnosis and treatment of children with cancer.

Online support groups

Rhabdoid families support group with the Trust

This is an online support group for parents and carers of children diagnosed with rhabdoid tumours. This group also welcomes parents of children with very rare or undiagnosed solid tissue tumours for whom alternative support groups do not exist.

My Kid Has Cancer

This is a Facebook support group, providing easily accessible online friendship and support to parents of children with cancer. Please note this group is a closed group and only parents or primary carers of a child with cancer are able to join.

Grandparents of children with cancer support group

This is a closed Facebook support group for grandparents of children with cancer.
There are also many excellent smaller childhood cancer charities that operate in local areas to provide emotional and practical support to the families of children undergoing treatment.

For bereaved families

Child Bereavement UK

This charity provides a wealth of information and sources of support for families after the loss of a child.

My Kid Has Cancer

This is a closed Facebook support group for parents following the death of their child from cancer. Only parents, or primary carers of the deceased child, or young person are able to join.

The Compassionate Friends

Help and support after the death of a child.

A Child of Mine

Help and support for bereaved parents. It provides information and guidance on all aspects of losing a child.
