Release of two updated publications with the Institute of Health Visiting
The Grace Kelly Childhood Cancer Trust is proud to have authored two updated publications for the Institute of Health Visitors. With childhood cancer remaining as one of the major causes of death of children in the UK, knowing the signs can help save lives.
Each year, over 4,000 children and young people are diagnosed with cancer. Of these, almost half of these cases are diagnosed in children under the age of 5. Currently, children with cancer are diagnosed at a later stage than adults with cancer, and we are working hard to change this.
We were initially approached by the Institute of Health Visiting and asked to support in the production of these resources and we were only too glad to support.
The first information resource is entitled, “The signs and symptoms of childhood cancer, knowing what to look for: Good Practice Points for health visitors.” It has been written in an educational way to explain to health visitors the signs to look for and when to be concerned.
This knowledge is vital to enable health visitors to signpost parents towards seeing their doctor when concerned.
The second information resource is, “Spotting the signs and symptoms of childhood cancer: iHV parent tips.” This is written specifically for parents who are looking for information.
We are proud to have collaborated with the Institute of Health Visiting to have produced updated versions of these publications for Health Visitors and parents. Teaching the signs and symptoms to look for is instrumental in helping to save lives.
