Children and families came together in a vibrant display of colour and community spirit at Colour Up for Kids, a fun-filled fundraising event supporting Grace Kelly Childhood Cancer Trust and James Hopkins Trust.
Participants were invited to run, walk or skip their way around the course at Plock Court, Gloucester, spreading colourful cheer while raising vital funds for the two charities. Sponsored by Yass Clean, Avenue Coaching & Consultancy and TNS Electrical, the event marked the first joint fundraiser for both organisations, proving to be a huge success with more than 400 people attending, raising an impressive £11,820.12 to support local children and families.
Colour Up for Kids is a 5km fun run featuring bursts of powdered paint, foam tunnels, bubble zones, inflatable obstacles and uplifting music, all combined to create a memorable experience for participants of all ages.
The Grace Kelly Childhood Cancer Trust works to raise awareness of the signs and symptoms of childhood cancer, alongside producing educational resources for parents and clinicians, supporting families and funding research into rare childhood cancers. Meanwhile, the James Hopkins Trust provides vital nursing respite care for Gloucestershire’s life-limited and life-threatened young children.
Kirsty Murray, Income Generation Manager at Grace Kelly Childhood Cancer Trust, said,
“We are absolutely overwhelmed by the support shown for the very first Colour Up for Kids. To see so many people of all ages and abilities come together, covered in colour and smiling from start to finish, was incredibly special. Raising so much money at this first-time event is an amazing achievement, and every penny will help both charities continue supporting local children and families facing serious illness. Events like this show the power of community, and we’re so grateful to everyone who took part, volunteered, sponsored or supported the day.”
Charlene Spackman, Fundraiser at James Hopkins Trust added,
“Raising £11,820.12 for our first Colour Up for Kids event is a fantastic achievement. It was a truly magical experience seeing so many people come together and enjoy the day from start to finish. All funds raised—from ticket sales to sponsorship—will help both charities continue supporting local children and families. A special thank you goes to our wonderful volunteers and our generous sponsors Yass Clean, TMS Electrical, and Avenue Coaching & Consultancy for making the event possible.”
The community event also featured a lively Event Village with food and drink, music, photo opportunities and a range of family-friendly activities. Participants received a variety of extras, including a fundraising pack, sunglasses, powdered paint and a complimentary burger meal.
With over £11,800 raised, the event will make a meaningful difference in supporting
local children and families facing childhood cancer, life-limiting, and life-threatening conditions.
