Take on the Lake District Ultra Challenge for Grace Kelly Childhood Cancer Trust
This is a challenge filled with jaw-dropping scenery, friendly faces and moments of pure accomplishment. From the Kendal basecamp, the 100km looped route takes you through charming villages, rolling pathways and the stunning shores around Lake Windermere — a place where the views alone keep you going.
Whether you take on 100km, 50km, 25km or the 10km option, you’ll be supported every step of the way with food, drink, medics, rest stops and a warm welcome back at basecamp. It’s a brilliant challenge for walkers, joggers and runners of all abilities.
Reaching the end is an incredible achievement, but the impact you create for local families is what truly makes this challenge unforgettable.

How Charity Places Work
There are three simple ways to join an Ultra Challenge and support the Grace Kelly Childhood Cancer Trust. Each option is designed to suit different budgets and fundraising styles, so you can choose the one that feels right for you.
Full Sponsorship (Charity Place)
This is the most affordable way to take part. You pay a small registration fee, and then commit to reaching a minimum fundraising target, with at least 50% raised three weeks before the event. Your charity covers the cost of your place, and you get all the support you need to hit your goal.
For example, on a 100km challenge you might pay £50 to register with a £575 fundraising pledge. It’s a brilliant option if you want to take part without a big upfront cost while making a meaningful impact.
Mixed Funding
Mixed Funding keeps the registration fee lower than self-funding, while offering a reduced fundraising target. You pay around half the event fee yourself, and commit to raising the rest, with 50% due three weeks before event day.
A typical 100km place might be £110 to register with a £330 fundraising target. This option is ideal if you’d like to contribute personally but still want your challenge to make a real difference for local families.
Own Place Fundraising
If you prefer complete flexibility, you can pay the full cost of your event place and fundraise whatever you can, with no targets and no deadlines.
A self-funded 100km place is usually around £199, and you’re free to raise any amount you choose. This is a lovely option for people who simply want to take on the challenge for personal reasons while still supporting a cause they care about.
No matter which option you choose, you’ll receive friendly guidance, encouragement and resources from our team to help you enjoy your challenge and feel confident in your fundraising.
