Sadly, there may come a time when it is no longer possible to cure your child. Devastatingly, they may have exhausted all their available treatment options. Instead, the focus of their treatment now is to manage their symptoms, and help them to have a good quality of life for as long as possible.
Understandingly, this can be absolutely devastating for the whole family. It is so important to be able to ask for help and support from people around you.
Your child and you will be looked after by a specialist team who have exerience in managing your child's symptoms. This team may include professionals from your child's oncology team, pain team, palliative care team, community nurses or a team from your local children's hospice. All these professionals have the same aim, to support you and your child and to control their symptoms.
