Are you someone with health, social care, social work or counselling experience who is looking for a new challenge in a role that will make a difference?

We are looking for someone new to join our dynamic team at the Grace Kelly Childhood Cancer Trust. As part of a small but growing team, your role will be busy, varied and rewarding.

Your role as family support worker at the GKCCT will include the provision of support for families who have a child diagnosed with cancer. Your role will involve providing practical and emotional support to these families at all stages of the childhood cancer journey locally, including following bereavement. At times you may be required to provide remote support to families who live further afield as well.

Your work will include supporting families through crisis periods, including after the death of a child. The nature of the role means that the applicant will need excellent spoken and written communication skills, accurate documentation, a knowledge of relevant legislation including safeguarding and an ability to manage your own diary. You will also be involved in the setting up of a family drop-in session locally to help improve our accessibility to these families. To set up a new group will require the applicant to be proactive and confident but also empathic and have excellent listening and communication skills. You will work closely with schools and families affected by childhood cancer meaning that having a caring and compassionate nature is of vital importance.
