The Grace Kelly Childhood Cancer Trust is pleased to announce the roll out of support for families affected by childhood cancer in Herefordshire. For the last 9 months, we have been providing grants to Worcestershire families, but due to some fantastic local fundraising activities, we are delighted that we are now in the position to be able to offer this support to our neighbouring county.
When a child is diagnosed with cancer, their families are faced with spiraling costs including childcare for siblings, travel to distant treatment centres and living away from home. At the same time their family income decreases due to one or both parents needing time off work or even having to give up work completely to care for their child.
The Grace Kelly Childhood Cancer Trust is now able to offer support in the form of financial grants and information packs to give them the information they need. Our grants will be made available to the families of children diagnosed with any form of cancer in this region after the 1st April 2019. Grants will also be available to all children who have sadly relapsed after the same date.
The funds for this project have been raised through local fundraising initiatives to be spent in the community. Our national work including raising awareness, information publications and the funding of vital research will remain unchanged.
Thank you so much to our local fundraisers for making this possible. We can now give support to more local families at a time when they need it most.
